Looks stunning in solid black lacquer with gold keywork, gold engraving and gold inner bell. Black lacquer is more than just a colour. The sax is made from regular brass before a black lacquer is applied which is thicker than the regular gold or clear lacquer. This thicker lacquer has a greater dampening effect on the vibrations enhancing a warmer, darker tone.

Selmer (Paris) Series III Alto Sax Silver Plated & Engraved
Classic look with silver plated body and keys. Some say the silver sounds sweeter.

To minimise cleaning, lacquered saxes are sprayed with a thin layer of plastic lacquer which slightly dampens the resonance of the metal. In contrast, unlacquered silver plated saxes have an addional layer of metal providing extra resonance.....but it is harder to keep them clean.
