Subject: Runyon Quantum Mouthpiece

I received my new Runyon Quantum mouthpiece today.  Darn,  you guys are good!  I've just one thing to say about it......WOW! I'm well chuffed with it.  I don't know why I'd been messing about with the one that came with my sax for the past year now.    It's very comfortable to play and I can get much higher notes and they sound stronger.   It gives a lovely bright loud sound and I love the edge that the spoiler gives.  It's just what I was after  and I can't wait to take it to band practice on Thursday and give the guitarists something to worry about.  Har de har har! Thanks very much.  I'm sure I'll be shopping with you again soon. Rachel

I was at first a little doubtful of good results with this very slim and lightweight mouthpiece, it weighs in at a mere 16 grams. Tried it with a BG Standard Jazz ligature and man does it have a big sound!! I could play very loud and make a wonderfully raucous sound without losing control. For rock and roll and pop music this would be ideal, it would be great in a live setting and with the spoiler there would certainly be a good case for not bothering with a microphone!! It plays and feels like a metal mouthpiece but a lot lighter and this helps to reduce fatigue when playing at loud volumes. The 10 in a Runyon plays very much like a 6 or 7 in most other makes of mouthpiece. See the Runyon mouthpiece page for more info(saxes used Selmer Series II and Yanagisawa T991).
