The Keilwerth CX90 is something of a departure from the normal character of Keilwerth's horns. With it's striking copper body and different bore there's a really different tonal colour to the CX90. We're uncertain as to whether the CX90 is specifically designed with the classical player in mind but it could well be. The horn has a smooth, even, centred tone with a rich warmth to it and somewhat brighter than the rest of Keilwerth's range- ideal for classical or the warmer end of the jazz spectrum. It subtones beautifully, has a clean, precise altissimo and has an pleasing uniformity of response from top to bottom. This is a long way from the vastly more extrovert SX90 (R), their other range of top end professional saxes. The feel is unmistakably Keilwerth but the sound is something far more smooth and 'silky'.
